Amid the hustle of elections, the Uttar Pradesh police reportedly received a letter which threatened to target senior politicians of various parties, and place bombs at many crowded locations across Uttar Pradesh, Delhi and Haryana.
The letter is allegedly written by Jammu and Kashmir based terrorist group, Jaish-e-Mohammad, and has threatened to target Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, Delhi Chief Minister and AAP founder Arvind Kejriwal, and RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat among others.
Aside from that, the letter also aims to target several railways stations, and temples across the three states. It specifically spoke about aiming at the Ram Janam Bhoomi in Ayodhya on May 16, which has been under dispute for decades now. UP Director of General OP Singh said that the anti-terror squad and local policemen have been asked to stay on alert, and they have also informed central agencies. He further added that though there are chances that the letter might be “an act of mischief”, but it could not be taken lightly.
