Smriti Irani: I will leave politics the day Narendra Modi will give up
Union Minister Smriti Irani has said on Sunday that the day Narendra Modi will give up on his Prime Ministership, she will also leave the politics.
Smriti Irani speaking at the Words Count festival here in a discussion titled ‘Scripting Her Story, From Star to Star Campaigner’ said it would also be her last day in politics when Narendra Modi will leave the position. Irani added ‘Many people say that Modi will not last long for the Prime Minister’s seat but I assure that he will rule the country for a long term.”
The textile minister was seen praising Modi’s work and his contribution to the growth and development of the country. She said ‘I never have worked for the charismatic leaders, I have never craved for money.
I am lucky to work under Narendra Modi and I was very lucky to work under the leadership of late Atal Bihari Vajpayee. I will leave my post the day Modi decides to leave the throne. I also had the opportunity to work under leaders like Vajpayee and L K Advani and now I am blessed to work with leaders like L.K. Advani and Nitin Gadkari.
I always praise these leaders for their work. I will decide my days for working in my country, I am freeto leave when I wish and that is democracy for me.”
Irani also told that she had been trolled many times on social media and might be one of the few people who have been equally trolled by celebrated journalists and politicians and by anonymous trolls.She admired Minister of External Affairs Sushma Swaraj and Lok Sabha Speaker and Indore MP Sumitra Mahajan.
She said that she has not yet decided to contest against Rahul Gandhi from Amethi but she will do whatever Amit Shah will choose for her.
