BJP leader Shatrughan Sinha who has been in the news for a few months recently, was reported as saying that “whatever the situation” be, he would again contest elections from Patna Sahib, irrespective of his relationship with the party leaders.
Sinha, who won the last Lok Sabha elections in 2014 by around double the votes of his adversary Congress candidate Kunal Singh, has had opposing viewpoints on various topics with the party, which he did not hesitate to make public.
He gave rise to rumours when he attended a Kolkata rally in January with opposition leaders, members of the Mahagathbandhan.
The former Bollywood actor also met Samajwadi Party leader, Akhilesh Yadav at his office twice, once during a programme, and another during a visit to Lucknow, leading to reports that his wife, Poonam Sinha, might contest elections from Lucknow, which was last represented by Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh.
When asked about his wife entering the political arena, the former Union Minister of Health and Welfare replied unclearly, saying that his wife did a lot of social work and was “liked by all” but whether should would actually act on people’s demands to contest elections remains to be seen.
