The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and its allies having talks over seat-sharing for the 2019 Lok Sabha elections. All kind of speculations are revolving in NDA circles, one of the current speculations is that Bihar deputy chief minister Sushil Kumar Modi might replace BJP MP Shatrughan Sinha in the Patna Sahib parliamentary seat.
Actor turn Politician may not get a ticket from BJP because of his anti-party stand over several issues, said BJP officials aware of developments.
Asked about the possibility of Modi contesting from Patna Sahib a senior BJP leader the condition of anonymity said, “There is no smoke without fire.” Modi had been an MP from Bhagalpur from 2004 before becoming the deputy chief minister in the Nitish Kumar-led NDA ministry in 2005.
The deputy chief minister, however, said, “It’s too early for such type of decisions."
A hunt is definitely on for a “suitable candidate” from Patna Sahib as well as from several other constituencies said BJP officials. One of the officials said, “It all depends on seat adjustments.” Sinha is considered as a rebel in the party, lashing out at his own party leaders on national and state issues, often from public platforms.He targeted PM openly on several issues such as rising fuel prices, Rafale deal and the Vijay Mallya case.
Sinha had expressed his intention to contest again from Patna Sahib in 2019, but he didn't specify if he will join any other party. He told party workers, “The BJP did not give me a ticket; I took it on my own. And I will contest from Patna Sahib again.” He added, “The location (constituency) will be the same, even if the situation is otherwise.”
He also seems to increase proximity with opposition leaders and often notice to appreciate them. Recently he has praised RJD’s Tejashwi Yadav, calling him a “very mature leader”. Sinha tweeted, “It is a proud moment for me and our family friend Lalu Prasad, to watch Tejashwi taking on the question with confidence, ease & with great conviction. Is he the Arjun aiming the fish’s eye?”
Yadav response with the same intensity and fueled the speculation that Sinha could be the RJD candidate for the Patna Sahib seat in 2019. He said,  “Chacha (Shatrughan Sinha) is with us."
