NPP will contest for all seats in Northeast

The incumbent Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma on Saturday said that his party NPP will contest all the 25 Lok Sabha seats in the General elections 2019. He also said that his party will also contest the elections from Sikkim.

According to reports the National People's Party was seen supporting the BJP-led government in Manipur and Arunachal Pradesh, the People's Democratic Alliance government in Nagaland and the BJP in Meghalaya. NPP said that the party would support BJP and solve ties if the Citizenship Amendment bill will be passed in the Rajya Sabha.

We are keen to contest all the Lok Sabha seats in the northeast and will work out how to go forward. The party election committee will work on it," Mr Sangma, unanimously re-elected national president of NPP said in the NPP meeting .

The tribal centric-based political party, set up by former Lok Sabha Speaker Purno Agitok Sangma, will inaugurate its office in Guwahati, Assam, on February 17. The NPP has decided to support BJP led party in the north eastern states, however Conrad did not confirm anything till now.
