Members of the MNS, headed by Raj Thackeray, are known for causing nuisance in the state, with its activists and supporters committing frequent acts of violence in passion, and creating headlines with their controversial speeches and remarks.

The latest feather was added in their cap when three MNS activists, allegedly beat up BJP activist Pradeep Rane in the Thane district of Maharashtra, due to a post forwarded on WhatsApp, which they found offensive.

According to the BJP activist, he received a post on WhatsApp which had an image of Thackeray, and he forwarded it to a few people. The accused saw the post, and thrashed Rane, as they took offence at the post.

Some MNS workers recorded a video of the incident which was posted on social media and also aired on a local channel.

Rane immediately apologised and deleted the post from his mobile phone, following the incident.

Rane filed a complaint at the police station, where the attackers have been charged under IPC Sections 452 (house- trespass after preparation for hurt, assault or wrongful restraint), 323 (voluntarily causing hurt), 504 (intentional insult with an intent to provoke breach of peace) and 500 (defamation), but no action has been taken yet.
