Founder of the All India Trinamool Congress and Chief Minister of West Bengal, Mamata Banerjee, speaking to reporters on Thursday, questioned the silence of the government over the details of the airstrike by the Indian Air Force over the Jaish-e-Mohammad (JeM) training camp in Pakistan.
Following the statement of Air Vice Marshall RGK Kapoor that it is “premature” to give the exact number of casualties in the airstrike, Banerjee asked the government to give the exact details of the airstrike- the number of bombs thrown, where were they dropped, how many people died.
Different media houses quoted different numbers, some saying it exceeded 300, whereas some said there was only 1 death, with neither countries giving a clear official statement, adding to the confusion.
Mamata, along with BSP leader Mayawati and other opposition parties, are among the many who are doubting the extent of the airstrike, and whether it actually reaped as many profits as the government claims it does, or is it actually merely a political stunt.
