Irshad Rasool Kar joined PDP leaving Mehbooba’s party
Irshad Rasool Kar on Friday joined the National Conference in presence of party president Farooq Abdullah. The People’s Democratic Party district president of Baramulla joined the PDP in 2015 quit the Mehbooba Mufti led party on 7 February without stating any reason.
President Farooq welcomed Irshad Rasool Kar and saying Kar would work for the party and the people the same way as his father Ghulam Rasool Kar. National Conference vice-president Omar Abdullah and other senior leaders were also present at the occasion.
Mehbooba Mufti received a big loss after former Jammu and Kashmir Finance Minister Haseeb Drabu resigned from the party and now resignation of Irshad Rasool Kar may act as a threat to the Mufti’s party.
Drabu, who was the key player in forging an alliance between PDP and BJP, had said that PDP’s vision changed after the demise of former Jammu and Kashmir chief minister and Mehbooba’s father, Mufti Mohammad Sayeed. According to sources many more members of Mufti’s party could leave the party before the coming elections.
Mehbboba in an interview said earlier that she will rebuild PDP but the situation do not seem to be in her favour, reports claim.
