Indira the first, or Nirmala? Modi confused

Narendra Modi, at a rally in Kanyakumari in Tamil Nadu, embarrassed himself when he boasted that the present Defence Minister of the country, Nirmala Sitharaman, was the first female Defence Minister the country ever had.
Immediately post the rally, the Indian National Congress posted on their social media account that maybe the PM had “missed this chapter” in his Political Science degree from the Gujarat University.
Congress reminded Modi that it was actually Indira Gandhi, who was not only the first female Defence Minister of the country in 1980, but also the only female Prime Minister this country ever had, beginning her term in 1966. Her career, though remembered solely as bringing about Emergency in the country in 1975 and conduction Operation Blue Star in 1984, had a complicated and controversial term as Defence Minister while she was the Prime Minister in her third term.
The present Defence Minister, Nirmala Sitharaman, has been the Defence Minister since 2017 and has recently been in news, with her sharp replies and arguments with the Congress President, Rahul Gandhi in the Parliament over the Rafale fighter jet deal.
Modi, or the party, have not yet replied to Congress’s correction over the gross mistake.
