Congress President Rahul Gandhi appealed to voters across the country today morning to vote for “the soul of India and its future”.
As the 17th General Elections begin today, with 91 constituencies conducting polls today, many leaders from various parties have appealed to the public to come out in huge numbers and fulfill their duty to this democratic nation.
Gandhi took a harsh jibe at the Modi government via Twitter, and accused the party of promoting “no jobs, distrust, violence, hate and fear” in the country, as opposed to Modi’s unfulfilled promises of jobs and depositing Rs. 15 lakh in bank accounts of farmers.
Gandhi mocked Modi’s popular slogan of “Achhe Din Aayenge”, by saying that “Achhe Din” were marked by economic reforms such as demonetisation, GST (which Gandhi has been known to label as “Gabbar Singh Tax”), and criticised the government for the alleged Rafale fighter jet deal scam.
Congress chief spokesperson Randeep Surjewala tweeted, "Today, the Grand Festival of Democracy has started. The country does not have to be trapped in new tricks and has to follow the path to progress. We have to take India to new heights. We have to save it from lies, cheating and jumlas, and take it towards progress with love, peace and brotherhood. Do cast your vote because now justice will be done”.
