Union Minister Nitin Gadkari who holds multiple portfolios, including Shipping and Water Resources, gave another one of his “fantastic ideas” when he announced at a function in Nagpur, Maharashtra, that “we should start storing urine of entire country then we will not need to import urea”. He expressed disappointment that no one appreciated his “fantastic ideas”, and no one cooperated with him.
Gadkari made this statement a few years after he made the headlines when he said that he had stored his own urine to make fertilizer at his official residence in new Delhi.
He went on to say that people in the government are “trained to be like bulls” and not deviate from their path, when he elaborated why he wouldn’t receive any support from the Municipal Corporation.
The ex-President of the Bharatiya Janata Party claimed that he had already suggesting storage of urine at airports, but it should be done at a larger scale, as it has a lot of “potential”. He stressed the importance and necessity of innovation, and this was a way to go about it.
Gadkari had also previously remarked how he had used human hair waste to create amino acid, and bio-fertilizer, which he was using in the Purti group of industries that he controls. He further added that as a lot of hair wasn’t readily available to him, he purchased “five trucks of hair” from the holy destination of Tirupati, where devotees are made to shave their heads off, to create bio-fertilizer in large amounts.
