Umesh Sinha, Deputy Election Commissioner while speaking about the state elections in Telangana said, the Election Commission (EC) is assessing the level of preparation
“EC has sent this team to assess the level of preparation. The preparatory work has been reviewed. We have taken note of all the complaints made by political parties. The team will submit its report to EC instantly and then EC will take a call,” said Sinha.
He added, “Some political parties raised the issue of names still not registered or deleted from electoral. We've directed district officials and BLOs to ensure each and every voter eligible to register is given the facility. Every mistake will be corrected."
On Thursday, CM K Chandrashekhar Rao met Governor ESL Narasimhan and submitted cabinet resolution recommending the dissolution of the House. As an outcome, Telangana Assembly dissolved.
The Governor has accepted the resignation and asked Rao to continue as the caretaker Chief Minister.
KCR held a press conference, soon after he submitted his resignation to the Governor. In the conference, he announced that his party is ready with a list of 105 candidates for Assembly elections.
The state Congress unit reacted on KCR’s decision to dissolve the Telangana Assembly for early polls and said that people of the state have got rid of an 'autocratic rule.
Initially, State Assembly elections were scheduled to be held along with the Lok Sabha elections 2019 in April-May. But, Rao is keen on uncoupling the two polls, seeing it as an advantage for the ruling Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS).
