Robert Vadra, brother-in-law of Congress President Rahul Gandhi, has been under investigation by the Enforcement Directorate since some time for possessing illegal assets in a Bikaner land scam. Vadra has denied these allegations, and has termed it a “political witch hunt” against him.
The son-in-law of former Indian Prime Minister, late Rajiv Gandhi, had appealed to the Delhi High Court for anticipatory bail which was denied at first, but later his interim bail was extended until March 19.
Vadra recently issued a statement, saying that “ there are people who have looted this country and run away”, but he promised not to leave the country or enter active politics until his name was cleared.
The Bharatiya Janata Party grabbed the opportunity to take a jibe at Vadra, thanking him for accepting that he had looted. They also said that he was “eligible for the Bharat Ratna” as per his “family quota.”
