Owing to the rising tensions between India and its old-time enemy and neighbouring country, Pakistan, many political parties have cancelled, or rescheduled, their campaigning for the upcoming Lok Sabha Elections. However, one party, namely the BJP, is continuing its campaigning with zest, irrespective of the high-alert stamped over most parts of the country.
This gave an opportunity to the opposition parties, such as RJD, CPI(ML) and the Congress to condemn the BJP for being “desperate for re-election” and that the parties would question the government on its “apathy”.
In reply to Congress leader Randeep Singh Surjewal and the joint statement by opposition parties on Wednesday night, Bihar Deputy Chief Minister Sushil Kumar Modi justified their stance by stating that people of the nation needed to hear words of assurance from the Prime Minister in this time of distress, as the country is eagerly awaiting the return of valiant Wing Commander of the Indian Air Force Abhinandan, who was taken captive by Pakistan following ceasefire violations at the LoC by both the countries.
