Just a few months left in 2019 Lok Sabha polls, where every party appears to be involved in the campaign and planning. AAP chief Arvind Kejriwal came out in public and declared his party "kangaal" and made an appeal to the people to donate so that they can contest 2019 polls.
Kejriwal launched a nationwide crowdsourcing campaign, he said during the launch, “It is for the first time in history that a party is kangaal (bankrupt) and the government is cash-rich. That is because we run on your funds. We do not depend on money from corrupt millionaires.” He added, “AAP Ka Dhaan, Rashtra ka Nirmaan."
While addressing a gathering of around 1,000 party workers from Talkatora stadium in central Delhi, Arvind Kejriwal said, “There are elections in the next two years. We do not have money. Party needs money. All working volunteers must contribute at least Rs 100 per month. Your family members who earn have to contribute.”
The Party appealed for the donation at a time when Election Commission has questioned the party’s funding. EC has alleged concealment of donations and money coming through the ‘hawala’ route.
AAP, however, has termed the poll panel’s questions a witch-hunt by the Centre.
The party's members of Parliament and MLAs along with the party's volunteer would be going door to door in their respective areas to seek donations.
They already had an option of online donation and now they have also launched a number at the event, people across the country can support the campaign by dialing that number.
The party is asking to donate at least 100 Rs per month before this party was dependent on random donations which doesn't go well as the party is going through a financial crisis.
