Lok Sabha General Elections 2019 are to be held in India from in 11th April and 19th May 2019 to constitute the 17th Lok Sabha.

The Election Commission of India - ECI is announced the dates on 10th  March 2019  at 5 pm  through a press conference at Vigan Bhavan, New Delhi for the much awaited General Election 2019  and its to be conducted in 7 phases  and results would be out by 27th May 2019.

The last parliamentary election was held in nine phases from 7th April to 12th May 2014 and was the longest election in the country’s history. On 16th May 2014 the results were declared, which was 15 days before the 15th Lok Sabha which completed its constitutional mandate on 31 May 2014. The counting exercise was held at 989 counting centres. In the 2014 Lok Sabha elections the BJP alone crossed the halfway mark on its own by winning 282 seats making an impressive victory and with its alliance the NDA it tally was 336 seats. The Lok Sabha (General) Elections 2019 will be a test of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s popularity against the grand united opposition.

 

The tenure of the current NDA government led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi will end on 26th May 2019.
